About Monash University
Monash University is Australia's largest university by student enrolment and one of only two Australian universities to operate full campuses on multiple continents. Founded in 1958 and named after the distinguished engineer, military leader, and public administrator Sir John Monash, the university has grown into a global institution with campuses in Melbourne (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula, Parkville), Malaysia, South Africa, and a joint graduate school in China. With roughly 86,000 students — around 35 per cent of whom are international — Monash is a genuinely multicultural institution that draws from more than 170 countries.

Why Choose Monash University
World #1 in Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences
Monash's Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has held the number-one global ranking since 2015. The faculty operates its own institute for drug discovery and runs clinical partnerships across Melbourne's hospital network.
Truly Global Campus Network
Unlike most Australian universities, Monash operates full-degree campuses in Malaysia, South Africa, and China alongside its four Melbourne locations. Students can transfer between campuses, gaining international experience without changing university.
Research Powerhouse in the Go8
As a Group of Eight member, Monash is one of Australia's most research-intensive universities. The Clayton campus sits adjacent to CSIRO, the Australian Synchrotron, and the Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication — giving students direct access to national research infrastructure.
Guaranteed Industry Experience
The Monash Professional Pathways program guarantees every student at least one industry experience during their degree, whether through formal internships, client projects, or professional mentorship with industry partners.
Melbourne's Most Liveable Study Destination
With campuses across Melbourne — from the research precinct at Clayton to the arts-and-design hub at Caulfield — Monash offers students access to one of the world's most liveable cities, with excellent public transport, affordable housing options, and a thriving multicultural food and arts scene.
Campus & Student Life
Monash's Clayton campus is the largest and liveliest, with more than 150 student clubs and societies, a newly refurbished campus centre, and extensive sporting facilities including an Olympic-standard swimming pool and athletics track. The campus has its own bus interchange and is connected to Clayton train station, making it easy to reach central Melbourne in 40 minutes. The multi-faith centre, free counselling services, and dedicated international student advisors ensure comprehensive pastoral support. Caulfield campus offers a more intimate, design-focused atmosphere just 12 kilometres from the CBD, while the Peninsula campus in Frankston has a strong community-health focus. All campuses share a single student union, so club memberships and events are accessible across locations.
